American courier service company FedEx has announced that it will cut between 1,700 and 2,000 jobs in Europe.
So far, the company has revealed that about 385 positions are expected to be cut in Belgium. The move is part of a cost-saving programme. The layoffs will affect back-office and commercial roles. The conditions of the programme will be negotiated with employee representatives according to local regulations. Under the programme, certain activities will be consolidated to be located in select shared activity centers.
FedEx employs more than 500,000 people globally.
A previous European restructuring programme of FedEX has been recorded in the ERM events database (FedEx-2021-EU). The current restructuring event in Belgium can be found here Fedex-BE-2024.
