American online travel agency Expedia Group has announced that it will cut about 1,500 jobs, which is about nine per cent of its global workforce.
So far, the company has revealed that the restructuring programme will affect about 350 positions in the Czech Republic Expedia-2024-CZ. The layoffs in the Czech branch will affect employees responsible for communication with hotels in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, and solving users’ technical problems. The company will move these operations to cheaper countries, such as India and Guatemala.
Expedia Group was founded in 1996 in the United States. The company owns and operates travel fare aggregators and travel metasearch engines, including Expedia, Hotels.com, Vrbo, and Trivago. Expedia employs about 17,000 people worldwide.
