Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Provident, which operates in the financial services sector, has begun the process of laying off over 200 employees in Poland.
The reported reasons for the restructuring include the company's need to increase efficiency and implement structural changes as part of a broader strategy by its parent company, the international financial group IPF. The group redundancies process has already started, with some of the laid-off employees already being delegated to pause their work before being made redundant.
Provident has been operating in Poland since 1997 and is a part of the financial group International Personal Finance (IPF). In 2020, Provident laid-off 120 employees in Poland, for the factsheet on that, see: Provident - 2020-PL.
