Description
Yazaki Automotive Products Poland, which operates in the automotive electrical wiring sector, will lay off 230 employees from its Mikołów plant.
The restructuring comes due to the termination of a contract with Maserati and the lack of new contracts. Two rounds of layoffs will start in the upcoming days. The considered support for laid-off employees includes severance pay as per national law, an extra month's salary, and a one-time payment.
The trade union "Solidarity" raised concerns about layoffs at Yazaki's Polish plant during the corporation's European Works council. A finalised agreement on layoff rules between management and the union is expected by June 11.
Yazaki Corporation was established in 1941 and produces automotive components. The factory in Mikołów has been operating since 2002; it was acquired by Yazaki in 2011. The plant in Mikołów already laid-off 500 employees in 2020, for the factsheet on this restructuring, see: Yazaki Automotive Products Poland - 2020-PL.
