Rheinmetall, the German defence technology company, has announced that it will create 150 new jobs in Lithuania.
Rheinmetall has entered into a joint venture with Lithuanian partners to establish an artillery shell manufacturing plant in Baisogala, Lithuania. The factory is expected to be operational in late 2026 or early 2027.
The newly formed company, Rheinmetall Defence Lietuva, is owned 51% by Rheinmetall, 48% by EPSO-G Invest, and 1% by Giraitės ginkluotės gamykla. Total investment in the facility is estimated at €260 million. The plant will produce tens of thousands of 155-mm artillery shells annually.
Rheinmetall is a leading international systems provider for the defence industry, while EPSO-G is a state-owned Lithuanian energy transmission and exchange group.
