Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Turkish online food delivery platform Getir has announced that it will cut about 5,600 jobs globally.
The company has announced that it will cease its operations in the United States, the UK and Europe (including Germany) to focus on its home market of Turkey. According to the sources, about 1,500 positions will be affected in the UK, about 1,800 jobs in Germany, and about 2,300 jobs in the United States. There is no information on the restructuring process in the Netherlands, the second European country, after Germany, where the company still operates.
In 2023, Getir ceased operations in France Getir-2023-FR, Spain Getir-2023-ES, Italy and Portugal.
Founded in 2015, Getir operates in Turkey, the United States, the UK, Germany, and the Netherlands. In 2023, the company employed about 32,000 staff globally.
