Description
Bird, a Dutch communications technology company, has announced that it will lay off 20% of its workforce, resulting in 90 jobs lost.
The layoffs are a result of automation and the increasing use of artificial intelligence in the company. Employees are being replaced by AI, and thus, the company can achieve the same performance with less employees.
Bird had a round of layoffs before at the end of 2022, where one in three employees lost their jobs. That round of layoffs was due to the integration of acquired companies not happening fast enough, leading to double jobs.
