Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Austrian printed circuit board manufacturer AT&S has announced that it will cut up to 1,000 jobs worldwide.
The cuts will affect all the company's locations. In Austria (AT&S-2024-AT), the company is to cut 250 positions. The layoffs are part of a cost-saving programme. AT&S reported a loss of €34 million for 2023/2024. Regardless of the restructuring programme, the company intends to invest €500 million at its new production sites in Austria in the 2024/2025 financial year.
AT&S (Austria Technologie & Systemtechnik Aktiengesellschaft) has 7 production sites in Europe and Asia: Austria, Korea, India, China, and Malaysia. AT&S employs about 13,500 people worldwide.
