Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Swedish electric scooter start-up Voi lays off 120 employees. This equals 12% of their workforce and will mainly affect office roles in the headquarters in Stockholm.
The layoffs are part of a new savings package due to Voi needing to reach higher profitability. The CEO claims that with these reductions and changes, the company will have reduced their central overhead costs by 50% since 2022.
During 2022, the company also made extensive staff reductions where they decreased the total workforce by 165 employees.
Voi is a Swedish micromobility company and was founded in 2018. They provide electric scooters and bikes in 100 cities in 12 countries. The headquarters in Stockholm employs around 1,000 people.
