Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Poste Italiane, Italy's largest public company offering postal, banking, financial, and telecommunications services, has announced an agreement with the main social partners in the sector introducing a three-year agreement on active policies and turnover that should bring the company workforce to a total of 3615 full-time workers by 2026.
According to the agreement, there will be 500 recruitments for sales specialists (+350 already provided for in an agreement of 5/2/2024) and 200 for counter operators (+100 already provided for in an agreement of 5/2/2024), for a total of 1150 hires.
With regard to turnover, over the three-year period, 75% efficiency gains are expected through the incentivised exit of workers (previously the planned turnover was 40%). In addition, 3,400 contract conversions of part-time contracts into full time is planned in 2024.
The trade unions expressed great satisfaction with the outcome, particularly regarding the types of contracts that will be used.
