Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The private sales website specialising in DIY and gardening equipment, Brico Privé, is to close its doors. A redundancy scheme has been put in place for its 174 employees. The job cuts concern 130 employees in Toulouse (Haute-Garonne) working between the head office and the logistics platform. The remaining 44 jobs are being cut in Lyon (Rhône).
Launched in 2012, the national leader in its domain, the platform had achieved a sales volume of €100 million by 2022. But in 2020, the Toulouse-based group was bought by Les Mousquetaires and eventually closed down completely. In January 2024, the new management announced a job protection plan (PSE) aimed at cutting 174 jobs out of 174.
