Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Apotea, the online pharmaceuticals retailer, announced that they will cut 110 full-time staff members from their logistics center Morgongåva, in Heby municipality. The background is that the company experiences unforeseen peaks in demand, and they want to switch to a more flexible labour force. The 110 permanent employees will be covered by temporary work agency staff when necessary to meet demand. This change will, according to the company, reduce the amount of overtime hours needed to work by the regular staff, something the trade union Unions have demanded previously.
