Description

Pomorska Fabryka Mebli, part of the Klose furniture manufacturing group, has declared bankruptcy and is closing its plant in Nowe near Swiecie; 270 people will lose their jobs.

The plant's closure is related to the group's financial difficulties, which began during the COVID-19 pandemic and were magnified by the aggression war in Ukraine. The company began bankruptcy proceedings in 2023, and production was halted in June 2023.

The process of group layoffs has already begun; all employees of the plant will lose their jobs, the group layoffs have been reported to the Labour Office, but the notice period has been shortened for which the laid-off employees will receive compensation.

Pomorska Fabryka Mebli produced furniture for the Klose brand, which manufactured exclusive furniture. In 1992-1993, the Klose group took over three Pomorska Fabryka Mebli plants in Nowem (Kujawsko-Pomorskie voivodeship), Czersk and Gościcino (Pomeranian voivodeship) from the State Treasury.
