Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The American clothing company Levi Strauss has announced that it will cut between 2,000 and 3,000 jobs globally.
So far, the company revealed the restructuring programme affecting employees in Poland and Belgium. In Belgium, Levi Strauss will cut 42 positions at its European headquarters in Machelen, while in Poland, the company will close its plant in PÅ‚ock and cut about 650 jobs. The closure means that Levi Strauss will end its production activities in Europe.
In January 2024, the company announced a cost-saving programme, aiming to save $100 million by 2024. The programme is to affect between 10 and 15 percent (2,000-3,000 positions) of the company's global workforce.
