Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
A new logistics centre, constructed by Austrian Post in Vienna-Inzersdorf in 2022, commenced operations in November 2023, creating 100 new jobs.
On top of the creation of 100 new jobs, the initiative has resulted in the retention of 1,500 existing roles at the site.
The new 22,000 square metre hall and has the capacity to sort up to 25,500 parcels per hour or 250,000 parcels per day upon opening. Around 70 million euros have been invested in the project in order to increase efficiency and sustainability.
The entire site in Inzersdorf covers 200,000 square metres and is the largest post site in Austria. A total of 1,500 people currently work at the site. In addition to the parcel logistics centre, there is also a letter logistics centre and a truck fleet.
