Description
The Sanofi group has announced its intention to reduce its workforce in France by 330 positions in the research and development (R&D) which employs 4,000 employees in France. The reduction will mainly focus on the oncology R&D department. The proposed restructuring plan anticipates the loss of 288 positions at the Vitry-sur-Seine site, 16 at Gentilly, and 26 at Montpellier. This strategic initiative is aimed at optimizing costs, particularly within the oncological research sector, which has been identified as the most costly area of the company.
Furthermore, the social plan outlined is part of a broader series of initiatives to be implemented by the company between 2024 and 2025. Negotiations with social partners in France have started in the framework of a broader restructuring targeting a reduction of 1,200 positions in Research and Development across the entire Sanofi group, including the 330 positions in France.
