Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Renfe, the Spanish state-owned railway company, has announced a new public employment offer for the 2024 financial year, planning to hire 650 people to fill in workshop staff and commercial operators job positions.
Specifically, Renfe has called for 330 entry-level commercial operator positions in order to renew public-facing staff, plus 320 new workers for the company's workshops, particularly in job positions related to electricity-electronics, fitter-assembler and machine-tools. For this last case, the application period will be opened next 30 April 2024. Later in time, another 40 positions will be advertised for the maintenance of railway material.
This new call of employment adds to the already public call for 600 new entry drivers, already presented in this ERM in 2024 RENFE-2024-ES. RENFE did also announce several employment creation processes in 2023 (for instance RENFE-2023-ES), 2022 (for instance RENFE-2022-ES) and 2021 RENFE-2021-ES.
