Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Czech automotive supplier Continental Automotive Czech Republic has announced that it will cut 200 jobs at its factory in the city of Brandýs nad Labem, as well as 30 positions across three other Czech plants (Adršpach, Jičín, Frenštát pod Radhoštěm) over the next 2 years.
The layoffs will affect workers in company administration. The job reductions at the Czech plants are part of the savings program of the German concern Continental AG to eliminate around 7,150 jobs in automotive activities, i.e. over three percent of the company's total workforce.
The Continental plant in Brandýs nad Labem is one of the traditional suppliers of world car companies and employs more than 3,000 people.
