Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Tally Weijl, a Swiss company known for designing, manufacturing and retailing clothing for young women and girls, has announced plans to shut down its stores in France and lay off its 138 employees. The Paris Commercial Court did not accept any of the two takeover bids that had been submitted for a possible takeover. The subsidiary, which has 64 sales outlets (39 branches and 25 affiliates), had been placed in compulsory liquidation with continuing operations until November 2023, in the hope of finding a buyer. By 2022, sales had reached €20.2 million, around half the pre-crisis level, with an operating loss of €2.1 million.
