Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Ikea, the Swedish multinational furniture and decoration retailer, has presented a business expansion plan for 2024 that will create 1,500 new jobs in Spain by 2025. For this purpose, Ikea is planning to invest around 300 million Euro in Spain, with the inauguration of 11 new selling points and 26 new delivery points located throughout the Spanish territory. The idea behind this plan is to ensure that any Spanish citizen may reach an Ikea contact point before 15 minutes-distance (either by foot, public transport or private car). Ikea reached last year a positive net profit in Spain of 148 million Euros, approximately a 68% more than previous year.
Previous factsheets on Ikea's operations in Spain have been recorded in the ERM database in 2020 Ikea-2020-ES and 2022 Ikea-2022-ES, with announced business expansion of 750 and 1,500 new jobs created, respectively.
