Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The label manufacturer All4Labels announced to close its plant in Erfurt. Some 200 employees are affected by this step.
The company is quoted to close the plant by end of the third quarter in 2024. The step became necessary, according to All4Labels, due to strong market competition and a decline in sales. With the closure, All4Labels hopes to remain competitive and thereby save jobs in the long run.
All4Labels produces self-adhesive labels, for example on packaging from the household, personal care, and nutrition sectors. In Germany, the company is working at 15 sites. The company states that it employs more than 6,000 people in total.
