Description
The Swedish public service radio broadcasting company, Sveriges Radio will lay off 180 people. Between 60 and 80 employees have accepted to leave with severance pay. The background to the notice is Sveriges Radio’s aim to save SEK 250 million (€ 22.2 million) yearly of which SEK 150 million (€ 13.3 million) will be saved on staff costs.
When restructuring news broke in September 2023 Johanna Lindblad Ahl, President of the union at Swedish Radio said “We have known that the financial situation has been tough for quite some time, we have been receiving signals since spring. But we were not prepared for such large savings".
