Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Unilever, a British consumer goods company dismissed 120 employees in Romania. With the closure of its Good People health food factory in Bucharest, the company decided the layoff of its personnel. The persons worked for the Frufru and Urban Monkey brands. According to the company’s representatives, the transition process will be manageable and smooth for all the parties, which are involved.
In addition, the company announced that employees with less than four years' seniority will receive two net salaries, and the others will get half a salary more for each additional year worked.
Late last week, Unilever made a public announcement regarding the sale of Romanian brands Frufru and Urban Monkey five years after their acquisition.
