Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Sodebo, the food group which is specialised in the manufacture and marketing of fresh produce, has announced that it will be recruiting 200 employees until the end of 2024 in Saint-Georges-de-Montaigu (Vendée). The company is looking for line operators, team leaders, maintenance technicians, as well as people in support services: research and development, marketing, sales, etc. There are plans to expand one of the production units on the site. Management is going to increase production capacity for chicken, chorizo and bacon. The aim is to be operational in April 2025. In October 2023, Sodebo announced that it would be recruiting 300 employees at this site, to be filled by the end of 2023 (Sodebo-2023-FR). Two other business expansion announcements were recorded in the ERM database in France, with 242 jobs created in 2021 (Sodebo-2021-FR), and 2,150 in 2018 (Sodebo-2018-FR).
