Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Agora, the entertainment and media group, has announced its intention to carry out group layoffs involving up to 190 people. The company explains the decision by market factors, i.e. reduced sales of printed press and an outflow of readers to other communication channels. The layoffs will concern employees related to Agora's print and digital press as well as Internet portals; the layoff process is expected to last from 5 February to 31 March 2024; the company has started consultations with trade unions. The Agora Group includes such media as Gazeta Wyborcza, Radio Zet, TOK FM, Radio Złote Przeboje, plotek.pl, sport.pl and gazeta.pl and currently employs 2,584 full-time employees.
