Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Laufen CZ, a manufacturer of bathrooms and sanitary ceramics, has announced plans to reduce production in Znojmo and gradually lay off 250 employees in 2024.
The decision has been made due to a long-term increase in production costs, inflation, rising interest rates, energy prices and labour costs.
Laid-off workers will be offered the opportunity to work at the company's factory in Bechyne, South Bohemia, where the company plans to increase production. In addition, Laufen CZ has stated that it will help laid-off workers to find a new job by organising a job fair.
Laufen CZ is part of the Laufen holding, headquartered in Switzerland. Its owner has been the Spanish Roca Group since 1999.
