Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Global Media Group (GMG) is under a internal restructuring process and has implemented a mutual agreement termination programme for workers of Global Notícias, Rádio Notícias, Notícias Direct, Naveprinter, Açormedia and RCA.
Workers aged up to 61, with an open-ended contract, for more than 12 months, are eligible for the programme. Compensations will be spread over 18 months. A total of 150 to 200 workers will be covered by the restructuting process.
According to the administration the restructuring process is a urgent measure to avoid the insolvency of the group.
The deadline for workers to express their interest in the mutual agreed termination programme is 20 December 2023. After the validation of the administration, workers will leave by 31 of January 2024.
