Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
German automotive conglomerate Mercedes-Benz continues its ongoing large-scale capacity expansion at its Kecskemét production site. The expansion will create several thousand new jobs in the future. As Mercedes-Benz 2023 - Hungary reported earlier, the recruitment connected to the planned capacity expansion has already begun, and the number of new jobs amounts to 200 in 2023. In the coming years, the number of additional personnel may go up to 3000.
The investment includes the construction of a new assembly plant and a new car body plant, along with the comprehensive upgrading of the polishing plant.
According to the CEO of the Hungarian subsidiary, the production capacity may be doubled by the investment. Moreover, the expansion is part of the shift to electric vehicles. From the middle of the decade, the Kecskemét plant will start producing new, fully electric models.
The investment cost is more than €1 billion, part of which is covered by a government grant of €35 million
