Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Valencian supermarket chain Hiperber, based in Elche, plans to open eight new centres in 2024, creating 140 jobs.
The business expansion includes an investment of eight million euros in 2024 to open the new centres. This effort is part of Hiperber's expansion strategy, which involves consolidating the province of Valencia and entering the province of Albacete. Two of the new establishments will be located in the province of Alicante (in Castalla and Banyeres de Mariola, specifically); another will be located in Albacete, in the town of Caudete; finally, the remaining five centres will be set up in the province of Valencia, in the municipalities of Buñol, Alginet, Paiporta, Cheste and Valencia city.
With these new openings, which will take place throughout the year, Hiperber will reach the figure of 87 supermarkets in operation by the end of next year. All these openings will involve the incorporation of around 140 people, who will provide service to the new centres. In this way, the chain's workforce figure will be close to 1,300 employees by the end of the year.
