Description
As part of a European reorganisation and transfer of production to the Czech Republic, the American company Aptar France announced, on 2 May 2023, a job-saving plan for its sites in Normandy, involving the loss of 55 positions. The Normandy sites affected are Val-de-Reuil, Le Neubourg, Charleval, Le Vaudreuil and Verneuil-d'Avre-et-d'Iton. In addition, on 30 November, Aptar's management announced the closure of a plant at Poincy (Seine-et-Marne), with 83 job losses. The site will close in early 2024. In total, 132 employees will lose their jobs at Aptar France.
The vast majority of Poincy employees went on strike on 29 November. They are demanding exactly the same severance package as their fifty colleagues who were made redundant this year. The employees are asking for a redundancy payment of €30,000 each, and for outplacement leave of up to eighteen months. According to reports, Aptar is considering relocating some of its departments to the Czech Republic.
