Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Cimos, an international Slovenian manufacturer of auto parts, has announced plans to lay off around 100 employees in Slovenia and Croatia. Specifically, 40 directors are expected to be affected in Slovenia, and around 60 employees in Croatia. The decision to reduce workers is a response to the decline in demand in international markets.
According to information available, the decision was made by the management without consultations with the works council. In 2022, the company was acquired by the German holding Mutares.
