Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Swedish fashion-company NA-KD announced in the end of October that they will lay off 80 employees, which is about 28% of the company’s total number of employees, in an attempt to save SEK 150 million (about € 12,9 million) in costs. These cost-saving measures affect both employed workers and consultants.
According to NA-KD, the measure is done in order to return to profitability, as the company is expecting a decrease in profitability in the future.
In the spring of 2022 the company laid off 22 employees. NA-KD currently employs 287 people in Stockholm.
