Description

Swedish car parts manufacturer Autoliv has announced the forthcoming redundancy of around 320 employees at its main plants in France, representing around 20% of the French workforce (there were 1,728 employees at the end of 2022). Autoliv has four production sites for airbags, airbag inflators and seatbelt micro-gas generators in France, at Gournay-en-Bray (Seine-Maritime), Chiré-en-Montreuil (Vienne), Pont-de-Buis (Finistère) and Survilliers (Val-d'Oise). 59 jobs are to be cut at the Pont-de-Buis site. The restructuring is the result of a rise in costs due to inflation. Most of the redundancies will be in general production services, but roles in other areas such as sales, research and administration will also be affected. The job cuts will begin in the first half of 2024 and are expected to be fully implemented by the end of 2025. On 8 June 2023, the Group announced plans to cut around 8,000 job positions worldwide (11% of its total workforce), mainly in Europe.

Several job cuts were already recorded in the ERM database : 110 job losses in 2019 (Autoliv Isodelta-2019-FR); 202 job losses in 2015 Autoliv Isodelta-2015-FR; 164 job losses in 2014 Autoliv France-2014-FR and 140 job losses in 2009 Autoliv-2009-FR
