Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Exotec, a company specialized in robots for logistics warehouses, has announced that it is to set up an R&D activity in automation software in Lyon, creating around 100 new jobs between now and 2025. Initially, around ten jobs will be created in Lyon, particularly in project management. Exotec will then recruit 25 R&D positions in 2024. The company provides a collaborative robotics solution to boost productivity and flexibility in warehouse order picking. The robots drastically minimize the amount of walking required by operators, enabling them to concentrate on added-value handling, thereby increasing warehouse capacity. The company chose Lyon for its high concentration of engineering schools and its good transport links with Lille, where the company's headquarters are located.
