GL Pharma, an Austrian production company for drug packaging, has opened its new pharmaceutical production facility "P2" in Lannach, Styria, creating 100 new jobs.
P2 is a site expansion, to meet the increasing quality requirements. Production capacity can be increased from the current 4.5 billion to up to 10 billion single doses. By comparison, the production volume in 2022 was 4.5 billion single doses or 90 million packs. The aim is to also establish new technologies.
The family business is the market leader in Austria. According to the owners, every seventh medicine package comes from GL-Pharma. GL Pharma's sales in 2022 amounted to 246 million euros, an increase of 17 percent compared with 2021. GL Pharma, in association with its sister Genericon Pharma, is the market leader with a market share of 14.3 or 34.5 million prescribed drug packs.
