Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Schneider Electric has announced it will be dismissing 85 of its approximately 550 employees in Ukkel. Concretely, employees within the division producing electric equipment like light switches, sockets, etc. are at risk of losing their jobs. The company management has stated this operation is needed to improve the competitiveness of the company. They also stated that solutions will be sought for the employees affected and accompanying measures will be instated.
At the same time the company management stated that it will be investing in a new headquarters in Belgium (Anderlecht).
