The management of the Spanish Roca Group, specialised in the manufacturing of porcelain, taps, ceramics, and other bathroom accessories, has announced that the company is preparing an Employment Redundancy Plan (ERE) for the Gavà plant of Roca Sanitario (Barcelona). This internal restructuring plan involves the dismissal of at least 70 of the plant's 700 employees.
The works council of the Gavà plant has been informed that it is not yet clear how many of the factory's 700 workers are affected. Notwithstanding, the cuts will affect at least 70 people, since the Spanish regulations state that any ERE is activated when redundancies affect more than 10% of the premise’s workforce. The workers’ representative organisations have rejected the proposal of the ERE and have demanded the management to negotiate alternative measures to the dismissals, which would guarantee industrial activity and jobs. Meanwhile, the company has assured that Roca Group will continue with its industrial activity at the plant, and that the redundancies will be made for productive reasons.

On 14th September 2023, Roca Group has presented its Employment Redundancy Plan (ERE), which, different from the initial announcement, encompasses the redundancies of 168 employees of its sanitary ceramics and taps plant in Gavà (Barcelona), which represents 24% of the centre's workforce.
The company representatives have expressed their confidence in maintaining dialogue and "reaching favourable agreements for all those affected", including early retirement plans that may allow for "non-traumatic exits". The company has assured that the Gavá centre will continue to operate as usual. Meanwhile, the CCOO trade union has rejected the ERE file and has demanded the management of Roca to guarantee the existing industrial activity.
