Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Irish energy supplier Bord Gáis Energy is to create 300 new jobs over the next five years. This will represent a tripling of its service workforce.
The majority of the new roles, 230 jobs, are in its home services division and will include plumbers, electricians, gas service engineers, quality assessor’s, surveyors, project managers and a variety of field and customer support positions.
The remaining 70 roles are new plumbing apprenticeship jobs with a combination of on-the-job training and college-based learning. Hiring is to begin immediately with 20 of the apprentice positions to be filled by the end of 2023.
