Description
Podemos, the Spanish political party, has proposed an Employment Regulation Plan (ERE) that will involve the voluntary or forced dismissal of approximately 120 of the party's 220 employees. The aim of this internal restructuring is to ensure the financial viability of the political party following the poor results of the elections in May and July of 2023. Consequently, the party has a reduced income in the form of subsidies and public aid.
Nine regions will be affected by the ERE, namely Aragón, Asturias, Baleares, Canarias, Cantabria, Castilla-La Mancha, Madrid, Comunidad Valenciana and Galicia. Podemos has asked workers who voluntarily wish to take part in the ERE to notify the party. In 2017, Podemos had more than 400 workers and 45 deputies in the Unidos Podemos group in the Spanish Parliament. In the next legislative period, it will have 5.
