OP Financial Group is one of Finlands largest financial groups, consisting of about 180 cooperative banks. They will hire 300 IT professionals to be based in Helsinki and Oulu in Northern Finland, in an effort to pivot to a new long term strategy of incorporating AI, data utilization and cloud services into their business. The group already employs about 4,900 people working with IT, which is a significant portion of the entire workforce consisting of about 13,000 people. Many of the new recruits are predicted to be sought from abroad, as there is an ongoing IT labour shortage in Finland. To counteract this, the OP Financial Group is also a co-founder of the new Sisu Coding School (Sisu-koodikoulu).
