Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The American group Kohler, the world's third-largest manufacturer of generating sets (also present in the bathroom supplies market), has announced the recruitment of 100 people for its generating set business, including 80 in France and 65 at the Guivapas site near Brest (Finistère). In total, these new hires represent 10% of the current workforce of 800, and follow on from 118 new hires since the start of the year. The Kohler site at Guipavas (formerly SDMO) manufactures 32,000 parts annually. To address recruitment difficulties, the company has introduced a €500 'co-optation bonus' for every successful candidate recommended by an employee or their family.
