Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Froneri, the British ice cream manufacturer, has announced that 150 jobs will be cut at Froneri Schöller's administrative site in Nürberg. The reason for the job cuts is the closure of the administrative site in Nuremberg by the end of 2024. The closure is intended to eliminate the duplicate structure, according to the company. The company is to be concentrated on the main location in Osanabrück.
Regina Schleser, regional manager of the Food and Catering Union (NGG), criticised the closure of Froneri Schöller in Nuremberg as incomprehensible. One reason for the concentration in Osnabrück, on the other hand, could be that the company is not bound by collective agreements there, she said.
