Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The German low-cost airline Eurowings has announced the creation of 150 additional jobs in Cologne. With the hiring of 150 digital experts, the airline wants to further improve its digital offering for passengers. The plan is for customers to be able to complete their entire journey via an app in the future. Eurowing employs over 3500 people and operates 135 flights in 13 locations and offers more than 100 destinations in over 50 countries with a passenger volume of 40 million passengers in 2018.
Previous restructuring events have been recorded for Eurowings in the ERM events database. During 2021, the company announced expansion plans in Czechia creating 100 jobs (Eurowings-2021-CZ), and in 2020 underwent an internal resutrcuturing dismissing 300 employees (Eurowings-2020-DE).
