Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Ford Otosan, an automotive manufacturing company based in Turkey, equally owned by Ford Motor Company and Koç Holding, has announced plans to create 1,300 positions by the end of 2024 at its Craiova (Dolj County) plant. The company announced that the new jobs are needed to support the future development of Ford Otosan production in Craiova, where production capacity will increase from 250,000 vehicles per year to 272,000 vehicles per year.
The company will hire mainly production operators as well as engineering, maintenance and finance experts and the first new employees are expected to join the company in early June 2023.
Ford Otosan took over the Ford Craiova plant in July 2022. For supporting the launching of the next-generation Courier model and its engineering processes, the company announced last year a €490 million investment at the Craiova plant, which will be implemented between 2022 and 2024. The plat will manufacture the new generation of Ford Courier vehicles (in Transit and Tourneo variants), which will enter production in 2023. Starting from 2024, each model will come in an all-electric version.
The Craiova plant is currently the second largest commercial vehicle manufacturer in Romania after the Renault Dacia plant in Mioveni.
