Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Continental Automotive Lithuania, a company producing car electronic components and sensors designed to increase car comfort and safety in the outskirts of Kaunas, is going to hire up to 100 employees from nearby Jonava city by the end of 2023.
In 2022, Continental Automotive Lithuania carried out an internal restructuring and completed the first stage of business expansion, according to company's representatives. Currently Continental is planning a second phase of expansion.
On April 11, a meeting was held between the mayor of the municipality of Jonava district and the manager of Continental Automotive Lithuania. During the meeting parties discussed the possibilities of cooperation and mobility of Continental's employees living in Jonava. The company estimates that this year it could employ up to 100 more workers from Jonava (currently it employs about 60 people from Jonava city), and in the next three years the number of people coming to work from the Jonava district could reach 300 or more.
