Description

E-commerce and retail multinational Amazon has announced a global restructuring plan to cut 9,000 jobs form it's workforce. This global restructuring is closely linked to the 18,000 job cuts announced as part of a global restructuring in January, now totalling 27,000 job cuts in the first three months of 2023. The restructuring will target Cloud and advertising departments. The company's streaming service Twitch will also see 400 employees made redundant. The CEO has stated locations and exact units impacted will be finalised in April, 2023.

During 2023, the ERM database has recorded the announced global dismissal of 18,000 employees (Amazon 2023-WO), and a closure in Germany cutting 600 jobs (Amazon 2023-DE).
