Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
As announced on 22 February 2023, the German public broadcaster Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB) will be cutting 100 jobs by the end of 2024 due to internal restructuring. Interim director Vernau announced that RBB had to save €50 million in costs in order to assure the broadcast’s solvency after 2024. As a result, a job reduction is inevitable. Additionally, RBB will be shutting down the production of ficitional tv series, a selection of tv shows and will no longer invest in tv programmes after 10 o’clock at night.
RBB currently has 1,650 employees in Germany.
