Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Kuehne+Nagel, a multinational logistics group with presence in Spain, has announced the closure of a logistics centre in Constantí (Tarragona, Spain) and the lay-off of the 150 people working in this centre. The reason behind this lay-off process is the decision of Amazon, Kuehne+Nagel's only customer for this centre, to no longer use its services. Workers' representatives have started negotiations on the redundancies. They will ask for a compensation of 39 days per worked year and the possibility that the workers will be relocated to other workplaces that the Company has got in Barcelona, Zaragoza, Madrid or Seville.
