Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
One of the world's most popular fashion e-commerce brands, Shein, has leased nearly 55,000 m2 of warehouse space in Panattoni Park Wrocław South. Before starting operations at the end of the first quarter of 2023, the company has announced it will employ 2,000 people for the warehouse.
Investing in this warehouse is motivated by the company's move towards improving customer service and for gaining access to European markets. The growth of e-commerce in the fashion industry and the desire to secure the supply chain, are causing Asian companies, such as Shein, to move their operations closer to the end customer, in this case to Poland.
Shein is a Chinese online fast fashion retailer, founded in 2008. The company has a network of over 3,000 suppliers, and is shipping goods to over 150 countries. As of 2022 Shein has been the world's largest fashion retailer.
