Google has announced it plants to cut 240 jobs in Ireland as part of their global restructuring plan which will cut approximately 12000 jobs. The jobs cuts are spread throughout a number of areas with 85 jobs in sales, 80 jobs to be cut in technology and engineering, and the remaining 75 job cuts will impact support functions. A collective consultation process has commenced since the announcement date.
Google currently employs 5,500 people directly in the Republic of Ireland, with an additional 4,000 contract and temporary workers.
